Driving lessons in Stratford

E15 · E20

Stratford has been rebuilt twice in a generation — first for the 2012 Games, then around Westfield and the rest of Stratford City — and the road layout shows it: a genuinely complex gyratory, new signalled junctions around the shopping centre, and older terraced streets in Maryland that still drive the way they did decades ago. We teach both halves, with the Stratford gyratory itself a fixture of lessons rather than something you meet cold on test day.

What learning to drive in Stratford is really like

The gyratory, broken down

The Stratford one-way system around the High Street and Broadway carries buses, taxis and heavy pedestrian crossings in close quarters. We teach it lane by lane — which one you need and when you need to be in it — rather than hoping you work it out under test pressure.

Westfield's junctions

The signalled junctions around Stratford City and the bus station are newer and busier than most of East London's road network, with heavy pedestrian flow at almost any hour. Reading the signals and pedestrian phases correctly here is a skill examiners test directly.

Maryland's quieter half

Cross the railway into Maryland and the roads are older, narrower and far calmer — good territory for early lessons before the gyratory and Westfield traffic are introduced.
